There is NO CHARGE to use our trails ~ we just ask that you kindly abide by our rules.
Come run on our groomed trails in the Mancelona snow belt~!
Here's the scoop:
- Russ-Stick Acres is a small, privately-owned farm and kennel, with maintained trails for sled dog/equine use.
- Serpentine trails weave through our 40-acre private property with dips and turns, through the forest and fields. Miles of trail options.
- Excellent opportunity for Gee/Haw training.
- Passing practice opportunities on straight, dirt drive.
- Please park only in designated parking area.
(Circle drive by gas well.)
- Trails are available from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - 6 days a week, if we do not have a tour in progress. (Closed Sunday)
- You MUST email ahead for specific day's availability. 8-hour notice required. No phone calls please, as we have limited coverage on our rustic phone service. Please use russ_stickacres@yahoo.com
- Confirmation will be provided by return email.
- You must pick up after yourselves and your dogs.
- Your dogs must be UTD (Up to date) on all required vaccinations.
- Dogs are to be kept under control at all times. We have free-ranging animals and curious horses. NO LOOSE DOGS under any circumstances, no matter how "well" your dog behaves.
- Upon first visit, you must sign a season waiver, holding Russ-Stick Acres/Last Chance Kennel harmless for any personal or property damages incurred on our property.
- You will be on your own at all times so plan accordingly. (Neither Russ or Sherry will be available to assist with hook ups/holding dogs/or any trail assistance whatsoever.)
- Please note, you may also come use the trails for other silent sports, such as Cross-Country Skiing, Skijoring, or Snowshoeing. Enjoy!
Rustic cabin available for lunch/picnic setting.
Single picket available.
Directions: (Do not use online mapping unless you wish to end up in Timbuktu.)
- At stoplight (there is only one) in Mancelona on US 131, turn West on M-88.
- After several blocks you will see a Mancelona “Do It Best” Hardware on your right. (Across the street is a cemetery.)
- Turn R at the Hardware on Cedar River Rd. Go approximately 2 miles.
- E. Simpson Rd. will be on your left.
- Turn L on E. Simpson Rd.
- We are the first driveway on the Left.
