Numbers…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Administrator @ 12:39 pm

Neither Rustic Russ or I get too excited about numbers.

For instance, I didn’t notice how old my mother was last July, because she simply doesn’t age.

Numbers…forget about it.

Rustic Russ will be going to get hay this week. We refuse to think about the amount of money we spend on hay each year.

Livestock = hay.

We love our livestock.

Case closed.

Numbers…forget about it.

Rustic Russ is several years younger than myself. But who’s counting?

Numbers…forget about it.

And the dogs.

We have this uncanny ability to keep a dog at the same age, year after year.

It isn’t because we don’t know their age…we write it down each spring as we renew our kennel license with AC Ellen.

We just simply choose to…

…forget about it.

Perhaps it is because it makes us sad. Or feel old.

Mostly it’s because we don’t think it matters.

Our dogs may age, but it doesn’t change anything.

They aren’t going anywhere because they turn a magic number.

Astro. We’ve been saying he is 8ish.

Asta. Even though she was born the same day as her brother Astro, we had her pegged at 9.

They will both be 10 this year. We’ll try to keep them in sync.

Then there is Hawk. Born on site. We’ve kept him at 4 for quite a while.

He turns 6 a week from this coming Friday.

Then the “Pups”.

Commonly referred to as “The Super Pups”.

Those pups have been 5 for a while now.

They turn 7 on May 1st.

Aliy, Butcher, Libby, Dee Dee, Charlie, Jeff (a.k.a. Rock Star) and Doug.

Solo, Daddy of the Super Pups.

He’s been 6 or 7ish.

He turns 9 on May 8th.

Ranger ~ stuck on 8 since we got him from Joann & Larry Fortier. (Thank you again for the most amazing dog ever…)

Will be 10 on June 3rd.

Zip. Timeless Zip.

We picked her up in July of 2005 at a local home/farm, barely a year old.

She had already bred with a large collie at 6 months of age and had a litter of pups.

One of her large male pups was by her side when we acquired her from her current owner (at no charge, by the way).

We got her home, and had her spayed the next day.

She officially began her life of royalty at Russ-Stick Acres.

She’s been 4.

Not too off the mark.

And…just seeing if you were paying attention.

Tim Riley’s dog ~ Cash ~ Johnny Cash.

Watch for Part 2 of Numbers tomorrow…

However, until then, here’s a number for you.

This is my 90th Blog since I started on 11/4/08.

Upon setting out to write a daily Picture Blog, I was determined.

I’m even more determined than ever. I have so much to say…to share.

I do write daily ~ however when it makes it to the Internet is anyone’s guess.

24 hours?

36 hours?

As you know…numbers

…forget about it.

Until tomorrow ~ God willing,

Woodswoman

  1. Thank you for writing your blog. It’s massively entertaining for those of us in urban downtown dwellings. And I agree about numbers being…just numbers. :)
